BYOB - Bring your own broom

We need painters, sweepers, cleaners, movers and shakers to volunteer this Saturday to help Clean Up Crislip!  The owners are letting us into the abandoned shops to clear out the trash, collect the items suitable for sale, and clean up the graffiti.
Morning and afternoon shifts are available. Please bring your supplies as well.

Crislip…. progress?

I’m very happy to report some progress with our little block in downtown St. Pete.(A big thank you to those that signed our petition last year.)
Since the article in in November’s Business Journal, it was slow until last month when we met with members of the St. Pete Preservation Society and The Studio @620 to kick [...]

Buying Local - The 3/50 Project

Yes indeed, times are tough. Turn on the news and there is a tidal wave of bad news about the economy. The government is “bailing out” companies that drove themselves into the ground, and unfortunately, will do it again.
So it is up to us.
The 3/50 Project is a grassroots effort to encourage us to spend [...]

I’m going to jail.

Yep, I’m heading to the lock-up.  On May 13th, I’ll be cooling my heels at the St. Pete Hilton Downtown, waiting to be bailed out by my friends and colleagues. I am raising $3200 for ALS/Muscular Dystrophy - something that hits close to home for my family. I can’t help but believe that we are [...]

Because savin’ lives is what we do.

The team and I gave blood today. Tamara hit the gallon mark!
This was only my fourth time giving. I tried giving blood back in high school as one of those excuses to get out of class, but I was anemic at the time, so they weren’t interested. After that, I didn’t try again, just assuming [...]

Brookwood’s treatment philosophy is a combination of cognitive, behavioral and reality therapies. The program goal [...]

Another nudge for the Crislip

Our friends at the Tampa Bay Business Journal picked up on our petition to clean up the Crislip Arcade. This could be the nudge we need to make some progress!
Businesses seeking action at Crislip Arcade on Central
The fate of the historic Crislip Arcade, a 1920s-style mall on Central Avenue, has been undetermined for years, and [...]

Clean up Crislip

I selected downtown St. Pete for my growing business in late 2007, but the condition of Crislip is an embarrassment when my clients and potential clients come to visit. It is important that we create the beautiful, welcoming environment that people expect from our city!
The building known as Crislip Arcade, located at the 600 block [...]

Book Relief on the Gulf Coast

I love books.

Joey is always teasing me about my piles and piles of books. I don’t have nearly enough time to read all that I have, but I can’t stop buying more.

When I heard about the millions of books that were lost after hurricane Katrina, it just broke my heart. Within days of the devastating [...]
